Of all the investment approaches that take sustainability‑related factors into account, impact investing is considered the most advanced. The approach aims to achieve a positive impact on the planet and society, support the transition to a more sustainable economy, alongside generating financial returns. Impact investors view this transition as both a necessity and an opportunity.
As the approach gains popularity among investors, it attracts increasing attention from financial market regulators and supervisors, who primarily address impact investing from a greenwashing prevention perspective. Impact investing is expected to play a major role in achieving the United Nations Paris Climate Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals.
This special luncheon lecture invites the audience on a journey toward a deeper understanding of the “Why” behind the modern concept of impact investing, as well as the global, European, and Swiss approaches to regulating it.
We are delighted to welcome Dr. Tadas Zukas as our speaker. Dr. Zukas is a prominent voice in the Swiss and European sustainable finance market, active at the intersection of theory and practice and bringing a unique perspective to the debate. Among other achievements, he is the author of a recent lead article on impact investing in the European Law Journal (Zeitschrift für Europarecht).
